When you put the fabric conditioner in the compartment it drains away straight away and none of it remains in the compartment. I dont know where it is draining to but I am pretty sure it is not going into the drum as none of the washing smells of the conditioner. I have tried cleaning behind the drawer but the pipe that goes down to the drum I cant really access to clean. Any suggestions

the conditioner has to be going somewhere. if it isnt going in the drum then it must be going somewhere outside the drum...and if it was you would see a puddle forming beneath the machine and of course you would smell it...so it MUST be going into the drum.
Sounds like the plastic dam has become dislodged and disappeared thru the drum.Try replacing the entire soap drawer.
