Here's the deal, that little black connector is super fragile. I've broken 2 so far, one because I didn't know how to open it and one trying to move the black piece from a broken MoBo to a good one with a broken black thingy. I have a way to get your unit working, but keep in mind that it's a little ghetto.
Step 1: Find a stiff piece of thin plastic around your house somewhere. I used my plastic super market "bonus card" that fits on my keyring.
Step 2: Sharpen the plastic to a gradual point on one edge with sandpaper. I used a wheel grinder because it was easier.
Step 3: Cut a rectangle who's width is the same size as the ribbon cable that plugs into the connector. Make it long enough to be able to grab it with tweezers and manipulate it.
Step 4: Put it in the connector (thin side first) where the ribbon cable goes and make sure it can fit and goes in as far as the cable.
Step 5: put the ribbon cable into the connector and then place the plastic sliver ABOVE the ribbon cable but still inside the same connector. This puts enough pressure on the cable to help it make contact.
My unit is working now, I hope this helps you.
