I hooked my laptop to my flat pannel tv via a vga cable and now whether the laptop is connected or not, the screen randomly becomes discolored with bright neon 'blotches.' I've tried resetting everything u can reset and still no cure... any ideas?

Did you make sure everything was turned off before connecting? It's possible that this has caused some damage.
