Ferroli HE31C - code d1 and d2 - no heating but water ok!?

Hi

Can someone help me. I have a brand new (prof. installed) HE31 C and I have scoured the manual but it does not mention the problem I am experiencing - namely that the Hot water is working fine on demand but the Heating does not. The code displayed is d1 and sometimes d2 but those aren't even in the manual!!

TIA,
dan

En realidad d1 y d2 son indicadores de descanso luego de llegar a los parámetros.
Para el buen funcionamiento se deben corregir los parámetros en la modalidad "test" tal y como lo detalla en el manual de usuario.

Boiler temp sets normally then flashes 20 then 1. Boiler definitely on but no hot water or heating.

My boiler showing a d1 code water starts off hot and then runs cold after 10 seconds. Heating works ok.

This also happened to us and it also was the diverter valve. Fortunately the ferolli engineer had a replacement in his van.

I installed these boilers abount 5 7 years ago, the problem your having is that the diverter valve is not ppen all the way when on heating,Causeing a restriction in the flow pipe,

Have had so many problems with this boiler..not even 5years old...first time have had d2 showing ..water far too hot but no heating...I have 2 small grandsons and cannot have them washing their hands without me supervising...disgracefull!! This company should be reported to Trading Standards for the problems experienced..as it is Sunday, cannot contact Customer Services either...will see what is said when I call them tomorrow...After February when my warranty runs out, will be changing my boiler..have a good mind to charge them for a new one...!!!

im not sure what the d1 and d2 are but i get both.my heating system on the ferroli modena C HE is taking over 1 hour to get hot and its only 1 month old....any ideas?

some people saying that d1 and d2 is normal thinks but is not, d1 is normal thinks but d2 is problem with heating because hot water is ok but my rads are still cold even my boiler running 24/7 so tell me is thats normal thinks?

Ive got this boiler and the D1 and D2 are in the manual, they are the Demand prompts. Check the pressure and make sure its between 1 and 1.5 and the prompt will go.
I had a leak in a downstairs radiator which caused this, it would be fine for a week or 2 and then reappear. The leak was fixed and the problem went away.
Just want to add that the boiler is cheap rubbish, 3 years and I currently have no hot water due to a pipe inside cracking. Spare parts are not readily available and need ordered in. Im expecting at least a week with no hot water.

D1 is the delay that occurs after using the hot water tap in yer sink. this delay varies from 120secs. to 150 secs. If Your heating is on then this is the time it will take for the diverter valve to reset in order to allow the heating system to circulate hot water. It stops circulating hot water every time ya use da tap and again circulates the hot water after ya turn off the sink tap. i.e. tap off plus time delay d1 = central heating kick in. Now for ''d2'' Lets say you want the temperature of the central heating water to be say 60 degrees. you go to the boiler and adjust the heating temp. to 60degrees from the up/down buttons... the boiler will now heat the water to 60degrees. once the central heating return sensor detects the water is indeed at 60degrees + approx. 5degrees the burner will cut out and ''d2'' will be displayed. this remains displaying until the water temp. has fallen below your 60degree mark. - approx. down to 55degrees then ''d2'' indication now disappears and actual water temp. is displayed and the burner kicks in again. We can deduce from this then that ''d2'' is the delay +/- 5degrees from 60degrees the burner will not be heating the water. To put it plainly ''d1'' and ''d2'' are delay indications and are normal. They are not error codes.

As far as I know d1 and d2 are not a fault code it's just showing u that there is a 3 min delay for the heating to come on
If you put your hot water on while your heating is on you will get hot water but as soon as u turn it of u will get that code flashing, just wait for 3 mints your heating should kick in

Getting D2 as well. Boiler is fine for ten mins then D2 shows on the boiler I can not touch the flow pipe but my rads are not to temp. Takes 30 mins for my rads to even start to warm up. Thermister is fine on the heating side pump is fine anyone any ideas.

I can get my Fertech 31c to not come on when turned off but as soon as I turn the tap on the water is luke warm and the radiators are boiling hot with in seconds. I have been reading a few reviews on these boilers and so far they have not had a good name. Glad i didn't have t pay for it and have to pay for any repairs. but when i do get my own house id stay well clear of this pile of C**P!

boiler is staying at d2 pump spinning, fan spinning boiler not firing for heating. hot water fine. new installation fertech 31c??

any idea anybody?? other then ferrolis are rubbish

I get d1 when the heating is turned off and get no hot water so its not a delay. I had the diverter valve replaced when the boiler was just 8 months old, it is not yet 4 yrs old and I have had so many issues. And it is so noisy when it fires up it wakes the whole house.

Minty, May 2012
hi what does code d1 mean on boiler thanks

I have a Ferroli boiler and I get the full spectrum of error codes, I have managed to make it work by switching it all off for a few hours then I got all my heating and hot water working fine for a good few hours, then it dies again :( personally I think Ferroli are a bit pants!

Tony Guy, December 2011
there is no answer i have the same problem and it turns out the diverter has gone and they are a pile of shit and wouldnt recommend them to anyone

unhappy manchester, October 2010
i believe the code denotes a diverter valve proble. although mechanicle, it is sometime trown up as a resulting problem with the board. this model has had frequent electronic problems and it is being hushed up. don't be afraid to contact the manufacturer about this as itis down to the boilermakers, however you should first contact the supplier/installer foe them to sort it.

Hi
I have a ferroli Optimax 18kw OV boiler and I get this code too. It means there is a delay in the heat setting generally between hot water demand and heating demand. I think the setting is more common with combi systems.

Colin Rae, July 2009
I have an optimax 25ov .... always get the fault code overnight, in the morning there is a ' d ' on the display with no numbers.. only way to reset is to power down then power up the unit?

southbrook, March 2009
d1 code is a delay when heating is running then hot water tap is opened, it delays for around 120 seconds the the demand for heat is called apon and heating sould run as normal.

chris belfast, December 2008
Mine is a HE38C and displays the same codes. Just contacted Ferroli technical dept and they are indead delay codes. D1 is a 2minute delay after running hot water and D2 is a 4 minute delay after boiler has reached its set operating temp. So these are normal running codes. Need to look elsewhere if no heating on.

Eddie, November 2008
have the he31c for 11months, as far as i can tell the d stands for delay.when the heat is on and you make a demand for hot water the heating is 'delayed' and will not comeback on for a few minutes of inactivity ie D1. i have been searching for the meaning of d2, i think it means that if your heat temp is reached the thermostat shuts off the heat exchanger until the return temp drops down to a safe level as expected from the level you set. i think these delays are safety oriented like the delay in opening the door of the washing machine.

catherineq, November 2008
i had the same problem and it ended up being the circuit board

chris, November 2008
As far as i can tell d1&d2 refer to the display itself ie:display 1 and display 2!
need more info.. has it just locked out for some reason and needs a reset?
