Heat exchanger for Thorn (myson) Housewarmer E?

I've got an old back boiler which has just leaked, had Brit gas come out and said the heat exchanger has failed and that I'd need a new boiler.

Surely there must be a way to replace the heat exchanger rather than have no alternative to spend £££s on a new boiler and gubbins.

Oddly, the same day after the annual safety inspection, the boiler manages to heat up a tank of hot water and then fail.
Isn't that good timing ?

Any help would be grately appreciated !

You will struggle getting a heat exchanger for this boiler as it is now obsolete and the powers that be want us all to change to combi/condensing boilers. You will find that if you try and get a new boiler you will be urged towards these kind of boilers and back boilers are a thing of the past.Only problem is you can see the amount of questions of faults on these forums are all combi/condensor related and they cost a small fortune when they do go wrong.Ive Thrown my Corgi registration in the bin because of all the daft legislation and i aint paying over £3k every 5 yrs to renew the right to work on appliances.Im sorry but you will struggle to get the old boiler fixed.
