I am replacing the rubber gasket in a double glazed aluminium door do i use silacone sealent round the gasket before replacing the aluminium strips or do i not use silacone at all

if the door is internally beaded and the gasket fits well by this I mean tight dont silicone.The problem with silicone is that it can breakdown the unit if it gets on the edge depending what type you use also it may require double sided tape for security if externally glazed

you shouldnt have to use silicone at all if its only the unit and gasket you are replacing
