RCD Tripping by Washer/Dryer?

Hi.

My RCD is tripping. I have isolated it down to the Washer/Dryer unit (which is 7years old, but appears to be functioning when its not tripping out).

The RCD trips whenever the unit is asked to start a cycle of any sort (wash or dry).

Any suggestions on what to do to the Washer/Dryer to stop it tripping the RCD?

If its tripping your RCD then there is a fault with the machine that should be investigated. Trying to defeat the RCD is not advisable.

Nuisance tripping can occur when there are several devices each with a very small earth leakage current, which on their own would not activate the RCD, but added together exceed 30 mA and activate it. But it sounds like you have narrowed it down to this particular machine.
