Removed fabric softener cup ontop of agitator to clean and pressed mechanical release mechanism down and is now stuck down, always dispensing. Part is gummed up with left over softener, cannot break free. Tried vinegar, hot water, goo be gone, tooth brush...no help. How can i break it free? Remove top(free spinning piece) of agitator? Please help, I'm going crazy!!!!! Tank you for any input.

Fabric softener is wax based and needs near-to-boiling water to dissolve it. Unlock the dispenser from the agitator by pulling the blue ring upward and then pull the dispenser upward to remove it. Place it in the sink, top upward, and pour boiling water inside. Then turn the dispenser on its side and roll it around the sink. This causes it to "dispense" from the bottom, which it should do as the waxy gunk begins to melt. You may have to refill with very hot water some dozen times to clear the problem altogether,
