ellis, Mine did the same thing. I have, unsuccessfully searched for ways to fix my ZEN Micro. Mine did not take the full impact when it hit. The fall was delayed by my ear phones that tugged on it before it hit the ground. But, mine just goes to the Creative logo and thats all. It just freezes there, until the batterys run out and i plug it back into the USB port. So, if you find a way to fix yours give me a holla!

Apologies for the late response - I just came across this question via Google.

I've had the exact same problem, and after asking Creative discovered that it costs £80 for an out of warranty repair (considering the player was £130 when it was purchased, I thought this was a bit steep).

As a (seemingly obvious) side note, don't try and open it up for repair yourself. There are a lot of connectors which break easily, and take the best part of an hour to put back together again (and the the plastic will snap). I learnt the hard way...

What you need to do is find someone with a creative zen micro. Ask them to see theirs and give them yours back to them and keep their working one. It's their problem now!:))
