Potterton Puma 100 PCB burn out—Why?

What are the most probable causes for the Potterton Puma 100 PCB to burn out. I recently replaced a burnt out board. Now the replacement board is emitting a burning smell and I suspect it is about to do the same. I suspect i need to take preventative action.

It's bad design. No circuit board should be required to carry mains current like this one is set up to. Get a soldering iron and add little wires in parrallel with the pcb tracks that connect the mains electricity to the board.

our PCB has just done the same the engineer suspects the fan

the board it's self is an ener-tech 240047 issue 04
as you look at the front of the board the burn happened on the top left corner

if the problem occurs when the new board is fitted will up date this with the engineers findings

Dry joints seem to be a problem on Potterton boards and can get hot, burn out tracks or disconnect.

Could be something (fan?) drawing too much current.
