blown telly?

this morning my television made like a cracking sound then went off when i turn it on now all i get is a ticking sound no picture or audio make deawoo model GB28G2ST ITS ABOUT 6 YEARS OLD IS IT WORTH BOTHERING TO REPAIR OR NOT THANKYOU FOR YOUR HELP

I'm afraid that this is not a comprehensive answer. I understand that the ticking sound you hear is most likely the PSU/internal transformer. I had a TV go like this that was only 2yrs old (Bush), the replacement I bought was of the same chassis & it blew within 3-4months (!?!) The new TV was under warrenty & an engineer came out. While he was here, he advised me that the first TV most likely blew due to the soldered joints becoming dry and cracking. I understood that the cost of repair would be between £100 & £150. It has been sitting in my garage for the last few years & would reckon beyond economical repair - seems a shame for such a simple problem.
