No sound on VHS tape?

I tape TV shows and there is no sound, only silence; how do I get the volume/audio to work on the VHS tape? Model # is PV-V4520. SN is J0195257. Do you have any ideas on what to do? These are new tapes.

i have sound but no picture. recorded my wedding and it started good but then the picture started getting fuzzy and went out. now i just have sound and no video. How can i fix this?

If you connect via a SCART cable, that could be faulty. Otherwise it is very unlikely to be the actual tape. Tried a video head cleaning cassette?
