How can i fix my Sony Trinitron KV-21V6U?

The play tape mechanism is jammed on. It will play pre-recorded tapes, but no others. Also, do I need to set up non-standard remote control as TV and VCR, or can I get one setting for both?

Problem: horizontal lines and the picture gets compresses towards the top of the screen.
I hit the top of the TV and the picture gets corrected but only for few minutes.

What can be done?
