The door lock is jammed preventing opening of the door. Could anyone please advise how I can open the door and gain access to the door lock mechanism.

Hi Mel, it will be one of the lugs broken in the black control panel,the lock assy twists so the door will not release.Do not hacksaw, undo screws etc.Get your fingers both sides of the door and just pull with all your strength.It will give and then all you do is replace the black control panel for £35.I have done loads of these the same way,it always works but do not be gentle with it.All the best.

Not sure if this is the correct means of closing the question but I have resolved the problem myself (fresh look this morning). For those with a similar problem this was the procedure:
(This was a built-in unit with decor door.)
Switched the power off. Prised out the two retaining screws attaching the unit to the worktop (had to lower the feet to provide access). Extracted unit, then hack-sawed the two lower decor door securing screws. The door was then removed by releasing the top two catches on either side of the door (look like screwdriver slots). The handbook refers to a small plastic tool (lost in my case) but improvised with bent paper clip - insert and pull away from unit. The door lock mounting release catch can now be seen at lower edge of plastic panel. Depressing this catch enabled the door to be released. With the door open remove the six screws attaching the electrical panel (though special screws, small electrical screwdriver suffices). The door lock mechanism can now be inspected/removed. In my case the mechanism was ok but one of the lugs retaining it (on the panel) had broken. I am now reviewing a workaround. Hope this may have been of interest.
