hello dean,are you sure your computer doesnt recognize your camera instead of your cable?. maybe you need to download a driver for your model of camera. i know that running on vista does have a few compatibility issues with regards to external devices. if you do have a suitable driver then the cable is at fault.is there any reason why you need to connect your camera to the computer in the first place?. if you are just transfering pictures try your memory card in a memory card reader as this works fine. best of luck dean.
