MY SONY WALKMAN QUIT WORKING?

it's junk now throw it away mine is broken and I tried everything but its just black

Apparently the problem is that the battery goes to zero and that's bad because a computer needed some power to make the connection to recognize it.

I left mine logged in for hours with no result. Just dead. I plugged it into a cellphone charger (the wall piece without the USB cord removed) for a few minutes and... just waiting... waiting... waiting... Aaaaaand nothing yet. Piece of junk!!!

Well anyway, the manufacturers says it needs a stronger charge, like an AC to get it going again.

Same problem here (Sony Nwz-E445)

When plugged to Mac OS X it does not appear anywhere on the desktop or in Disk Utility (I can see the device in "about this Mac/system report/USB, though) but it charges ...

To Windows Vista, it appears listed as a portable device in the device manager, but there's no way to access anything or format it. If I try to run the firmware update, it says that there is no connected device. Tried to change it from MTP to USB mass storage to no avail.

With Linux Mint 17, it just says "Can't mount the device" or something, then it appears in the explorer and I have the message, when I double click on the icon "Please insert a disk"

I tried to reset when plugged to the computer but it didn't work.

Any suggestion is more than welcome :)

Note: reset does not delete the songs and stuff from your mp3

Had the same problem as Jason, this is how i made mines work:

http://esupport.sony.com/CA/p/model-home.pl?mdl=NWZE344&template_id=1®ion_id=3&tab=download#/downloadTab

go to the link, will lead you to Sony eSuppot - Driver and software , download firmware update, remember to keep your Sony NWZ-E344 plugged into your computer and clicked the reset button while its plugged into the computer before starting this, this worked for me, hopefully it also works for you :)

Step by Step Reset:

1. Plug your Sony walkman into your computer wait a few seconds for your computer to locate it.

2. Then In the back of your Sony walkman there is a small spot that says reset. Take a tooth pick and insert it gently into the spot.

3. Wait a for few seconds and voila it should activate and works like new.

Good luck

Same problem with mine. It wont do anything! Right before it broke I charged it and it said that it was fully charged. Few minutes later I turned it on, frozen! I hit reset, now its just black!

I was having the same problem. I plugged the usb into the walkman and the computer and just left them there. I came to this post and, ironically, It just randomly connected when the page came up about ten minutes after I had left it plugged in lol. It may just be a time issue. I don't know if this works but I would try it just to be safe.

Mine too. I just bought a Sony walkman two weeks ago and now it won't work (NWZ-E344). I call tech services and they told me to try and reset it. Nothing happened. It's now useless.

I am going to buy an Apple.

I have the same problem. Sony NWZ-S639F. Won't turn on, won't charge, just won't do anything. Plugged into two different PCs and also into mains. Same thing. What a load of rubbish.

Sent it back to Sony once already and it came back working (they said nothing was wrong). 1 week later, same problem.

Bye bye Sony, will stick to Apple in the future.
