How do you sew a button on?

How do you sew a button on a shirt?
Angeee, December 2008
Get a needle and thread; about 20 inches will do. Thread the needle and knot the ends of the thread.

Present the button where you want it and run the needle through the fabric or cloth through one of the holes. If you have a two hole button, run it through the other hole as close as you can to the place where the thread came through the first time. If you have a four button hole, you can run two parallel lines or a cross - your choice.

Run about six or seven loops through the button, ending with the needle on the side of the fabric. Tilt the button and run the needle through, NOT through the holes. Wrap around the button four or five times, making a loose loop on the last one. Run the needle through this loop twice and tighten. Cut the thread flush with the edge of the button.

You are done. If this was useful to you, please write back, as I'm curious what kind of a mor*n can't figure this out for him/herself.

Cheers!
