It sounds like the laser pickup may be dirty.Try using a cd lens cleaner.If this doesn't work it might be that the laser lens is 'fogged' up .which will need to be manualy cleaned.This will need to be carried out by suitable engineer.At the very worst it will be the laser unit thats failed,in this case it may cheaper to buy a new cd player!...Hope this helps.....Gordon
