How can I know the value of a capacitor?

Is anyone know the value of a small capacitor in a Battery operated (1.5v) wall clock? I came across a wall clock whose capacitor is faulty. I want to replace it but do not know the value of that capacitor because there is no label on it.

if its a silver can with 2 leads coming out it probably isn't a capacitor it might be a crystal resonator.just a thought!
