How can I fix mt pine double bed?

I dismantled a double pine bed to move house by unscrewing using an alan key. There are 8 small metal bits (not sure where they go!) Help appreciated.

As I can't see it my guess is they are metal dowels to add reinforcing to the four corners 2 to each. I put one together for my brother in law similar with allen key fittings.
Each of the four corners had holes for metal dowels
