Will Double Glazing Solve my Condensation Problem?

Hi,

I live in a basement flat and have a couple of windows which get really bad condensation, especially in winter time. This leads to dampness and mould growing around the windows. My main window is rather large and sometimes I get huge pools of water under the window.

My question is how to I stop this? The windows are single panes of glass at the moment, would double glazing solve the problem?

Thanks,
Tom

two problems occur with condensation on windows one is that single glazed windows cold air meeting warm air this is were double glazing will help.the second problem is high humidity in the rooms in question if you have high humidity then double glazing can make it worse.I suggest you hire a de humidifier from an hire shop and test for humidity in the rooms first then act accordingly you may have to install vents to each room before you double glaze hope this helps malc
