hi basically i have 2 red 2 black and 2 earth wires i just put them all together in the light and all that happened was it would turn on but then it wouldn't turn off how do i solve this the socket on the wall has one black and one red and im now not sure where to put those wires red at the top or black at the top??

The wires in the switch are red = permanent live and the black will be live when you switch on and should have a red shieving round it so one of the black wires in the light fitting is switch live.
