Laptop shows internet connected but can not access Web?

I have a HP laptop bought second hand. The laptop is wireless enabled and confirms a connection to the web. However I am unable to connect to the internet. Any advise on getting this connected would be appreciated.

Sorry but your question doe not make lot of sense. The World Wide Web runs on the Internet. To get to the Web you MUST be connected to the Internet. Try a new question with exactly what the problem is without using the terms web and Internet.

Take out contract with ISP

Obtain Wireless Router - connect up and switch on

On Laptop - Start - Settings - Control Panel - Network Connections (not internet)

Right Click on Wireless Icon - Select View Available Wireless Networks (pick yours)
