My fire will not ignite,there is gas but igniter does not seem to be sparking

Sometimes on these the knob on the fire doesnt seem to push in far enough hence not making the microwitch behind the knob.Carefully wiggle the knob and pull it off.You will see the microswitch i am on about behind it.Push the arm and see if it then sparks.If it does push the knob back on and see what happens.
