eMachines E4028 intermittant failure to boot up?

My eMachines E4028 has taken to failing to boot up, particularly when re-started. The fan starts and the hard disk light illuminates for a short time, then nothing. After leaving switched off for a while it starts OK. Is it perhaps an overheating problem? Do I need to replace a fan?

hello, you have a virus. 1: when you get your computer back up. try start, run, and type chkdsk in the box on a windows computer. 2: if you can't get back up load your original operating system cd for windows. when it boots up it will ask you what do you want to do? repair or reload the disk, hit r for repair. it will issue you a c:prompt, type chkdsk, problem solved.
