You will need to unplug from the mains and remove the top cover from the video. Locate the screw thread cog (usually near to the video slot to the left or right). Rotate this manually and you will observe the tape move upwards and forwards towards the exit. You may find that the tape is snagged somewhere inside the mechanism. If so gently unsnag and continue with the manual eject. Once the tape is physically poking out of the machine you should be able to retrieve it. Replace top cover before powering on. This does not of course mean that your machine is ok and will now work fine. Try a different tape and if the problem persists there must be some kind of failure in the machine.
