Click Start>all programs> accessories> command prompt.

the command prompt will open (black screen, etc.)

type the following:

ipconfig/ release

then press enter.

it should show your IP address as 0.0.0.0 along with your Subnets and some other stuff. once it does, type the following:

ipconfig/ renew

then press enter.

after a few seconds (up to a minute maybe) it should show your ip address as 192.168.etc.etc. now your internet should be working. go into IE and press F5 to see if your web page will refresh.

if this doesn't work, you may need to power cycle your router and/or modem.

to do that (if the command prompt steps didn't work) just pop the power cable out of your router or modem for about a minute and then plug it back in. wait about another minute and check the connection on your computer it should be working.

if you have both a router and a modem, power cycle the router first and check the connection. if that doesn't work, then power cycle the modem and check the connection.

Good luck!

Click on the Start Menu, go to All Programs, then Accessories, then to System Tools and in there you should find Internet Explorer with NO Add Ons. Click on that and see if it loads, if it does, go to www.filehippo.com and download the free program called CCleaner if you don't have it already, then install it, Run the Cleaner and when that's done, then click on the left where it says Registry then at the bottom Scan for issues, when it's done click on the bottom right, Fix Selected Issues and when it asks to back the registry up, back it up, then run again to see if it's left anything and if it has Fix again. Then shut down your pc and restart and hopefully you will see a difference after having given it a good clean out and your Explorer will hopefully work.
