I have a printer epson stylus photo r320 and when i turn it on a message saying "ink cartridges cannot be recognized" appears, and i cannot use it. I have a continuos ink system on it. It use to work properly before.

Try removing the CIS and re-install properly chipped /or reset cartridges (using for example a "Superstar chip resetter")...carry out a maintainance check....then re-install your CIS...Should then work, assuming that you have a AN EPSON COMPATIBLE and UP TO DATE CHIPPED CIS
