My Bosch Nexxt 5000 series washing machine displays an E. The door is locked and the washer won't start. I've located the pull to unlock the door. When you shut the door, the E code continues and the washer won't begin a cycle. Help!
Yep, this advise above: Usually it is a program that got stuck. These machines use software and like pc can get a glitch. Shut machine off. unplug and plug it in. select "refresh" and then start it should run a program for 15 min or so and then after that it should be fine. This worked right away for me. Thank you Paul. Your a Blessing Man! All the best.

the key is patience. Here is what worked for me:
0. open the door (mine is a front loader).
1. press "allergy rinse" and "spin selection" and keep them pressed.
2. turn knob to the left on "Perm Press cold".
3. wait for a single beep. the error "E:" keeps flashing.
4. turn knob to "off", and let go of the buttons.
5. do nothing. Get a coffee or something.
After a while the error cleared and the washer now works.

Where is refresh? Also I pulled on the door open plastic but it did not open, do you have to pull really hard?

error code "E" was the door lock failure, and need to replace the main board & door lock Assy to fix the problem.

I have the same problem, I plugged it off, waited, plugged it back in, refresh and start.. same difference, did anyone find a solution other than the one recommended for this?
