Absolutely fantastic answer. We'd resigned ourselves to a night with no hot water, but this fixed it in one and saved us calling out a repairman. Thank-you!

It worked for me. well done Mike

we've got same boiler, when we put heating on or run taps it drips from boiler, any ideas?

Great advice! Woke up this morning with the 40 and 80 lights flashing, found the tap beneath the boiler on the silver flexible pipe and turned the tap until the gauge read 1.5 bar. Works perfectly. Thanks

Hi, before reading this thread I tried this but wasn't sure how much water to put in. Now I think I've put in too much. When I switch on the heating the water pressure guage rises rapidly and the boiler makes crazy sounds like it's gonna blow! How can I get the water back out of it?

Hey I had the same problem with a Saturn KDB-172FA boiler and this helped me fix it, thank you!

Theodore, December 2009
Massive help thanks guys. I had the same problem (low water pressure on the central heating circuit). Found the water pipe to manual feed water into the boiler and hey presto, hot water again!.

Mathew, February 2009
My boiler was leaking from one of the main pipes. So i drained the system and un-did the nut on the pipe and found an ole brittle washer. So i put in a new washer - re-tightend the nut - re-filled the system and hey presto. It works. The pressure keept dropping for the first day or two but this was just because it takes a while for the pump to get the water to all the rads. No more leaks. But i am suspecting that the main circuit board is on its way out as i have to keep resetting it all the time

Thanks so much, I just had the same low pressure problem and fixed it using your answers. Had lost the manual.

Does anyone know where to get a central heating water pressure switch for the Britony Combi SE80? We filled up the water pressure but I guess a little too much as this switch is now bust and we need to get a replacement. The plumber said that the manufacturer no longer supplies this part so instead of a quick £200 job we will have to get the whole boiler replaced @ £2,800. If anyone knows of anywhere we can try to find this part we would be hugely grateful. Thanks in advance!!!

It may be that your filling set is boxed in. Mine was!! If you cannot find the flexi pipe, then remove any local pipe box sections and take a look.

my friends boiler has no hot water (i take it, it wont have heating either) - it is flashing 40 & 80. low pressure, so reading all info on this page we have to find the filling loop wiv a silver hose - we will use all info from this page to try and get it sorted - thanks guys

Hi, my son has just bought (buying) a house with this Combi and 'phoned to say he had a low pressure warning and that he had no hot water. Logged on and found this answer, telephoned my son and he had it sorted in 30 seconds. Well done Mike and all who contribute. A very big thank you.

hi, my pressure is back up, half way between the red min and red max on the dial. good. still the same error though (40 and 80 flashing). i've turned it all on and off a few times, no joy. any more ideas anyone?

Graeme, August 2008
Guys thank you all, you are total stars, I was just about to give up hope and call a plumber.

James, June 2008
Mike, You're a genius. We've been puzzling over this for 24 hours over a bank holiday and were just about to call someone out when we found your instructions about the silver hose - they worked. Thank you!

You guys are talking about the water heater side of a combi boiler for the radiaters , correct.? What if i wanted to get more water pressure outta the water heater side for say, the shower. how do i get more pressure outta that side of my combi boiler?????

joe, January 2008
fill it up using the filling loop to 1 bar

kev, November 2007
Hi I have just had the same problem, the lights 40 and 80 were flashin, so i turned the filling loop anti clock wise till it came back on, ty for your answers helped me alot, money in my pocket...ty.

steven tierney, October 2007
there shoul be a filling loop somewhere close to the boiler normally two valves with a silver hose between simple turn both valves on until your pressure gauge reads around 1 nad a half bar and turn both valves back on

mike, December 2005
fill the system to 1.2 bar by opening up the tap on the filling loop or read and follow the instructions if there is an inbuilt filling system

marco, December 2005
Underneath the boiler there is a tap which when turned will increase the water pressure in the boiler. Do not fill the boiler up too much, about a quarter should do it - cold water though.
