Cleaning the pot in my amp to fix crackling?

Hi,
My amp is crackling and I was told that I may have to clean the pot to fix this. Any suggestions on how I would do this on a Peavey Bandit and any precautions to take while doing so?
Thanks in advance for your help!

buy some tuner cleaner at radioshack or wherever and pull the plastic knob off.spray the tuner cleaner around the pot and turn back and forth.repeat process a few times that will remove any dust or corrosion on it.

"My amp is crackling " .... if it's crackling all the time, then cleaning the pots won't help! Think 'dry' solder joint(s), poor plug connection(s), failing electrolytic capacitor ...

Frequently just working the pot rapidly back and forth will burnish any crud off the contact surface.

Great, thanks...I will try that!

There are other manufacturers - this is the one I use

You squirt just a tiny bit into the works of the potentiometer - have the amp isolated from the supply while doing it - wipe away excess with a tissue.

If it doesn't work then buy and fit a replacement pot - very cheap.
