please help me connect my new ceiling light?

hi , can anybody help me. l am trying to replace a standard ceiling light (on a loop circuit) with new halogen light fitting. the problem l have is that there are 10 wires coming out of the ceiling whereas the new light has room for 4 to be connected.! ls that to do with the circuit being a loop? ls there a connector box or something l can use to join all the wires in. or can l just wire up some of them? H-e-l-p!!

You say 10 wires, I can understand 9 wires if you include earth wires which will be green/yellow sleeved, need more info on how many & what wire colours. Do not disconnect any wiring or you will be without lighting in part or all of your house. How many lighting positions on same switch, is it 2 way. Either way its hard to instruct safely in writing.
