Halogen wall lights stopped working. Whats wrong?

150 watt tungsten holgen wall lamps operated by dimmer switch. One shattered and both stopped working. Checked fuse - OK. Replaced both lamps but still not working. Saw mention of a transformer in a previous question but not sure what it would look like or where it may be. Any advice or help?

Low voltage lamps will not accept mains voltages so they have to be powered via a transformer - if your bulbs are low voltage there will be a transformer - two lamps at 300W total on a low voltage 12V circuit will need 25A and very big wires - you very probably have mains voltage lamps and no transformer...

Given what you report the Dimmer Switch must be suspect.
