I am trying to help a friend fix her washer. She said it just stopped spinning. Please tell me, from the owners manual she has, this machine does "NOT" have a belt under it? Am I correct on this? There is a belt under there, but it is not really on anything, and it is very stretched out, so I am thinking that it does not even belong with the machine. Any suggetions on what might be the problem, it has always worked just fine until now.

You are correct when you say there is no belt on this washer. It is a direct drive machine and has a coupling between the motor and the transmission instead of a belt. What happens when the washer is supposed to be spinning? Are there any unusual noices?
