tape unwinds?

When I play my recorder it simply unwinds the tape and dosn't winds itself onto the other spool and also dosn't play - any suggestions?

Most VCRs have clutches of both spools that allow the tape to be pulled back into the cassette. It sounds as if the takeup clutch is faulty in your case. Parts are available from suppliers on the internet but it's not something that anyone can do as it involves taking most of the mechanics apart. With the price of VCRs now availabe from around £45.00 it's probably not worth getting it repaired. If your are replacing it you might want to consider a DVD recorder instead.
