I am trying to fit a curtain poll, I can only drill so far in?

Hi, I am trying to fit a curtain poll above my front door. When I try and drill the hole, I can only go so far in and the drill will not go any further. I suspect that I am hitting the concrete lintel.

Any suggestions anyone? I only want to hang one voil panel.

If it is concrete you will need a percussion drill. If a metal lintel be prepared for patience and drill with the smallest drill first and using sizes bigger gradually you will eventually get there....with luck !

The holes need to be at least 5" above the window. That way you won't be hitting the lintel and will only drill into the masonry.

You may be hitting a steel lintel, instead of a concrete one....

Yes, I have a hammer action drill with a masonary bit in it.
