How do I know what fuses to use?

How do I know what fuses to use in household appliances? ie a stardard table fan? kettle? and tv? are there any websites that can display a chart?

On the appliance it should have the wattage eg a kettle will normaly be 1.5KW that is 1500 watts divide this figure by 230 (the uk and most of europes domestice power supply 230v) = 6.52 the nearest fuse to that would be a 10amp. Hope that helps
