The EP2000 is a timer/programmer - it tells the boiler when to switch on - they don't fail very often - boiler problems are more likely.
When the EP2000 asks the boiler to run - does the fan in the boiler start up? If so you have a boiler problem. If not you may still have a boiler problem but it just might be the programmer.
After a call for heat a fan runs and a pressure switch detects that it's OK and the electronics light the pilot light and when that's detected as OK the main gas valve opens and the boiler fires up.
