How can I fix my beaver collar, fur is coming off in small patches?

Hi, if the hair is coming off the skin, this is only due to insect damage, they munch along the base of the hair & chomp it loose, so it just falls away and bald patches are left. iF the whole patch pice of skins & hair are coming out of the collar, this is the skin perishing/breaking down/return to the earth, the whole good environmental thing. but bad for you. So, if its just hair like I think you mean, then check for nearby garments ( or still in the hair) moth, larvae, droppings of moths which are little gritty black sand-type bits or coccoon/moth cases. All bad. if you finf none of these, they have been & visited & then gone to another garment beside or near. I deal with quarantine furs alot, I have Jackson Furs in Brisbane, so this is quite a common problem given our warmer months. You can only stop the munch at this point with a spray of Baygon & shove the area into a plastic bag closed with a twist tie for couple of days, then open clean with dry clean fluid and brush out the loose hair. You WILL have bald patches depending on the extent of munching. After this, we often use a matching raven oil to colour up the skin area to blend with the hair, mostly effective, but sometimes you need fur patches inserted if the oil doesn't cover a large baldy area. let us know if there's anything we can help further with, happy to help at any point in your process. You can ring or email us, look at our web site ( can't say business conntact here ) for Jackson Furs, we're in Brisbane, all the best! Cheryl
