Why is my fitted carpet puckering?

My carpet has been down about 3 years give or take, but I have noticed that it has bubbled up in about 4 places in my living room for the last week or so!.As we live on marshy land could this be due to damp under the flooring?
Is there anyone out there who can shed light on why this is happening all of a sudden.
The Carpet is I believe 75% wool and was expensive.

damp it could very well be, remove the carpet and inspect (or lift corner or a section out of sight) check colour and odour and any visible swelling or buckling of the boards, if found depending on how bad it is then could be as simple as removing all carpet and fitting a damp proof membrane over them and laying a good quality underlay and have your carpet refitted (make sure the fitters stretch it when fitting) OR !!! Replace all boards and sort the moisture at source (DPC and or foundations) OUCH !! ££
