Red Recieve light constantly flashing wireless Digistat RF2?

Hi,

I have a Drayton Digistat RF2 wireless system that has worked OK for about two and half years, however now the red “receive” light just keeps flashing on the SCR unit and I can’t clear it. I have changed the batteries in the wireless system but the red light still keeps flashing. I have also tried switching off the power to the heating system then switching the power back on and holding buttons 1 and then 2 hoping this will clear the problem but again no change the red light flashes throughout, I simply can’t clear the red light from flashing on the SCR. It has been flashing (no heating) for about a forthnight now. I have a combi boiler which I believe to be working fine as there is no problem with the hot water, just the central heating – any advice?

I used the option stated by Guy above (Jan 2020) and it solved my problem. Many Thanks Guy

I had the same problem and it was because the power had been turned off for electrical work. To resolve it- as a previous contributor said, remove the batteries from the thermostat, if it is reasonably close to the receiver then you can leave it on the wall otherwise if it's more than 2m away you'll need to take it to the receiver. Turn the power off to the receiver and wait ten seconds. now turn it back on and wait for the red light to come on. The boiler may fire up but just ignore it. now press button one (btm one) and hold it down whilst pressing button two and hold until the red light flashes for a few times then stops. Release both buttons. now replace the batteries in the thermostat. My model only has two batteries so I don't know about the double set. now the red light should flash for a while until a signal is established. once it stops, test that it is receiving by turning upo the temperature on the thermostat and you should see a green light come on. If green light is already on then turn temp down to check it goes off. All set.

... you must replace both parts as they are coded to only work as a matched pair ...

No, they're not.
So long as the operating frequency is the same (there are at least 2, to my knowledge, that have been used at different times) another receiver of the same sort will work.
The coding is set up using buttons 1 & 2, per the commissioning instructions supplied with the thermostat system.

Remove all power to the SCR Reciever, (No Lights showing), remove the batteries from the room unit, it is best to unscrew the room unit from the wall and take it to the Reciever. Re-apply power to the Reciever, press button 1 & 2 as per the instruction sheet. insert the Right hand set of batteries into the room unit in your hand, followed by the left set, after a short while the red light which as been flashing slowly should go out, the Green light will come on only if the flame symbol is showing on the room unit screen,
if the unit still fails to operate you will have to repalce the system you must repalce both parts as they are coded to only work as a matched pair, to get the heating on permanenty you can try pressing the override button on the reciever, the green light should come on and the heating should run, pressing O.ride again cancels operation hope this helps
