I have a Sony DSC-T1 camera that has developed a fault - can you help?

The camera was working absolutely normally, when suddenly the image on the screen became extremely blurred and distorted. Almost like how a painting would look if you poured solvent down it. In that there is an extreme vertical blurring.

All the other camera functions appear unaffected. Even images in the memory taken prior to the fault appear normal on the display!

I have tried switching the camera off and on again. Pressed the reset button - no change.

My DSC-t1 developed the same fault this October , faulty CCD chip, my camera is about 3/4 years old, contacted Sony repair UK and they repaired it free of charge

Fuzz, November 2009
Sony fixed the CCD for flat fee $20, I did that back in june 2009, camera got returned fixed within 5 days (but i live in the same state as the local repair center, TX). Check out their support site for details. http://eservice.sony.com/webrma/web/index.do

Mine suddenly had same fault. Just about to throw it in the bin rather than pay £145 fixed price repair, when came across a sony recall notice. Yes some of their CCD's were faulty. Got it fixed free of charge!

PS one month later, the flash has stopped working. Any ideas?

Hi, just developed the same fault, my cameras about 5 years old, screen image is all fuzzy.
Think I might buy a replacement, I can buy a 10.1meg pix for under £90.00!

Has anyone had the problem with the CCD imager fault repaired FOC by Sony, If so who did you contact?

Jim, July 2009
common fault with this camera - sensor problem - possibly get fixed with warranty - if not throw away

I have the same issue that started today. I located the page on http://www.dpreview.com/news/0510/05100701sony_ccds.asp but it does not mention the T1.

I called Sony and they advised to fill in a repair form on-line which I have done. It indicates a cost of #115 GBP :-(

More news!! Apparently this is a well known fault to do with a defective batch of ccd imagers which is inside the camera. Sony issued a press release on 7/10/05 that they would replace faulty parts foc - see www.dpreview.com for press release.
Ring Sony 08705 143480 for more info.
Good luck to us both!!
