I have a Kenmore Canister Vacuum and it quit working. It might be t
he Thermal Protector. How do I get the canister apart to repair. It is model # 116-22612 202. Thank you
I just bought a replacement hose from Sears for the Kenmore 6520 Vacuum cleaner. I was told instructions would come to show me how to remove the old hose and put in the new one. It did not come.
I need to know how to take apart the housing assembly on both connector ends to replace the hose please.
Thank you

I should also mention that you should carefully check that there are no problems with your plug (and that the hose is properly connected to the canister) before attempting to trouble shoot inside the canister. I painfully took apart my canister and inspected the engine and other parts inside before eventually finding out that one of the wires in the (replacement) plug had shorted out. I had examined the plug before I started out but obviously not carefully enough!

Go to http://www3.sears.com/ to get the appropriate diagrams and parts list (to help identify parts in the diagram).
See http://forum.doityourself.com/showthread.php?t=167850 for instructions on how to remove the cord rewind bar (underneath which are located the last two screws).
But I don't recall seeing any thermal cutoffs or reset switches.
