your HD has crashed a common problem, A hd replacement can be bought and upgraded to 40 Gig and the firmware can be downloaded. the Krama is easy to take apart but the parts can be lost, the HD mounts from the front of the board with 4 screws and the display and battery have to be removed. there are sites that have a picture by picture view on how to do this.
you need to be carefull in the disassembley the controls can be damaged, if you have a USB 2.5 external unit you can format to FAT32 before installing it in the Rio and when installed the firmware can then be uploaded on the player. I have taken the hd out of my Krama and have tested it and put it back together, there are alot of small parts to lose like the top power button so do it on a anti-satic mat if posible.
I saw hd,s on overstock.com the hd is 1.8 hitachi mini drive i saw many there at great prices, the exact hd model number i don't know I hope this helps
