This can be fixed, but it is a pain (trying to buy one online is also). Cut clean and square just beyond the break. Take a razor and magnifying glss and begin to shave the surface. This will expose the aluminum that is encoated in plastic. If you are fortunate enough to still have the backing strip from the original end then it can be cleaned and re-adheared to the end. If the strip you are left with isn't long enough then I would contact the OEM for a replacement. The online purchase game will only frustrate you.
