Heating element on the Diplomat ADP8242?

How do I change the heating element on the Diplomat dishwasher - Model ADP8242
Martin Dyer, January 2006
I've just sucessfully done this - I'm afraid it wasn't easy!

First, remove the front cover at the bottom. This will expose all of the wiring and pump etc underneath the machine. At the front and to the left, you will see two wires connected to the bottom of your existing element - they are likely to be white (neutral) and brown (live). They are connected to the element using metal crimp terminals - disconnect them, taking care to note which wire goes on which side.

You will then find a rubber sleeve which you can easily slide off.
The next part is tricky: you need to undo the bolt that is holding the element in place. There is very little room to do this. I used a pair of plumbers grips and had to pull the whole dishwasher out and turn it on it's side to be able to get at the bolt.

Once the bolt is loose, a metal plate which connects to the earth wire should come free, allowing the element to be pulled into the machine.

To install the new one, just reverse these instructions, making sure that you secure the bolt tight enough to ensure the seal around the inside of the element, but not too tight that damage is caused.
