Panasonic Microwave Timer Pad?

I have a new Panasonic Combination Microwave NN-A524MBBTQ and am experiencing an intermittent problem with the timer pad. Sometimes it works perfectly and then, for no apparent reason, it does not respond. Is this a known problem?
