Earthing a Metal Wall Light?

I have an existing metal wall light which contains an earth connector but no wire.

The original installation only used a 2 core cable fed from the consumer unit.

The supply to the wall light comes through from the Garage and is close to the main bonding earth connector on the Gas Pipe. Can I simply tap off this to feed an earth to the wall light without having to open the consumer unit.

it is completly wrong to use the main bond as this is there in case of a fault and will carry the fault current harmlessly away connecting to a main bond can cause serious harm.why not just run a seperate earth from the garage lighting and do the job properly

Its actually against code to do it this way but it would work! Best to find another genuine electrical earthing point if you can.
