my hotpoint fridge freezer has defrosted and the fridge is really warm but the light still turns on when i open the door. what could be the problem?

It is probable that the Fridge Thermostat has failed. This is a replaceable part costing between £20 & £40 depending on where you buy it. It should only be replaced by a competent electrical repair person. Once replaced the fridge should work normally.
Is the Freezer part working OK? This has a separate motor and thermostat.
