Well you hear of something new every day.
You could try using an electric drill (without the drill bit) by placing it close to the metal as the drill produces a symetrical sinewave from the motor windings inorder to cancel the magnetism. Alternatively take it to your local t.v repair shop and ask them to demagnetise it with a degausing wand and will take them just a couple of minutes.
